The story telling of Salim Şengil

Salim Şengil, who was born in 1913 and known with magazine publishing and press activities in Turkish Literature, is a story writer. Salim Şengil, who took championship award and got famous with his story "Toprağa Dönüş" in Turkey Story Competition which is organized by "Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi in 1937, had an important place for literature in his all life, gathered men of letters around himself and guided them. He published literature magazines named "Seçilmiş Hikâyeler" (1947-1957) that was one of the important and reformist literature magazines in that times, Dost (1957-1973) and founded the Dost Publishing House. In his magazine of "Seçilmiş Hikâyeler", he published works of 1950s generation story writers and poets and helped them to be famous in Turkish Literature. He also aspired awards of literature that was monopolized by Magazine of Varlık. Furthermore, published first books of many famous writers in his own publishing houses. Salim Şengil, died 2005, was not only publisher and editor but also he wrote a play, a memory and five story books between 1943 and 1992. He tried to represent pleasure and understanding of that period. In this work, stories in books of Salim Şengil were analyzed thematically and his relation with time that he lived was revealed.
