ABSTRACTPhD ThesisDEVELOPMENT OF A VIRTUAL ELECTRIC MACHINERYLABORATORYERKAN TANYILDIZIFırat UniversityGraduate School of Natural and Applied SciencesDepartment of Electrical and Electronics Engineering2007, Page: 113In this thesis, a web based virtual laboratory environment has been developed as aneducational tool for helping electric machines laboratory courses. Thus, a real laboratoryenvironment which facilitates the student education is realized by this virtual laboratory. Thedeveloped virtual laboratory environment is composed of several modules. Each module iscomposed of application, evaluation and feedback layers. The developed virtual application environment has a flexible and user friendly graphicalinterface. Various results can be obtained and analyzed by changing the model parameters. Therepresented virtual laboratory environment uses the simulations to help the students tounderstand the concepts and provides instantaneous graphic outputs for feedback at theapplication period. This virtual environment provides assistance to the training of students supporting withrepetition and exercises, training with simulation programs, showing the data and figuresattractively and teaching the computer-leaded learning. An educational approach is adopted here to develop a virtual lab which can be used as atool for education and demonstrative purposes. Keywords: Virtual electric machines, virtual lab, asynchronous machine, synchronousmachine, brushless dc motor.XIII
