Abstract (EN)
International art biennials are the art events which take place every two years in different cities and countries. Artists from all over world can take place with their art piece in the biennial by the invitation of the curator. This Phd dissertation, examines the art from 19.century until today in the light of social and personal relations. Through 19th and 20th century, modernizm and postmodernizm effected art by getting developed through the social and political developments. Today, technological developments and pandemic Covid-19, develop and change the characteristic features of contemporary art. Actors of the art world like curator, artist, art piece, collector and the art lover are also changed by the effects of these developments. While examining the development of art throught the biennials, it is also very precious for this dissertation to examine the developments through the light of pandemic and technology. In this respect, 58th Venice Biennial and 16th Istanbul Biennial which were taken place before pandemic in 2019, were visited and examined. The interviews have been done with people from the art world like curators, artists and organizers.
