Art training and its relation with environment (Opinions of primary school students (Students of 6,7 and 8 grades) on the art training and its effects on the artifact objects in the environment)

Environment education should be given to the child with kinds of activitiesbeginning from preschool period. The child, improving the environment conscious,knowing his environment, and being the person of the future, can see the negativethings and the visual pollution in the future. For this reason, while the student iseducated with the art education beginning from primary education, the conscious ofthe considering the environment should be given to the child. In addition to these, itis necessary to consider the feasibilities of art in the environment.The number of the activities such as; festivals, exhibitions, competitions,projects should be increased to strengthen the relationship between the environmentand the art. In the art education given in primary schools, the opportunity should begiven to the student to apply his works in the environment. Not only the artists butalso the other people will be provided to look at the environment by art vision in thesociety thanks to the students whose creative and constructive behaviours have beendeveloped by art education.The purpose of this study is to research the openion of 6,7 and 8 gradestudents in primary schools about the effects of art education to interpreat the artifactobjects in the environment. The universe of this study consists of primary schoolsattached to Ministry of Education in Ankara in the 2002-2003 education year and theexamplary of it consists of 6.,7. and 8 grade students in three primary schools in thevillage, the town and the center town.In this study, the opinions of 6.,7. and 8 grade students in primary schoolsabout the effects of art education to interprect the artifact objects in the environmentare accepted as dependent variables and the gender, social environment of students(center town, town, village) and grade level of students are accepted as independentvariables.The all datum needed for this study are taken from the literature searchingand the findings supplied from the datum collecting instrument which is improvedby the researcher for the aim of determing the opinions of 6.,7., and 8 grade studentsin primary schools about the effects of art education to interpret the artifact objects inthe environment. To have the internal consistency of the datum the cronbach Alphasafety coefficients are calculated for each dimensions. The datum is analized byusing SPSS10 (Statistical Package for the Social Scince) in computer environment.The opinions related to questions which are in the instrument are analized by varyansanalysis (one-way ANOVA) and t-test with different variables. The meaningfulnesslevel is taken 0.05.The results of datum are found briefly as below;-It is found that, both girls and boys want hours of art class to be increased.-It is found that, a new lesson which is called ?Art and Environment? shouldbe added to curriculum besides art class, and work education.-It is found that, both girls and boys think that they will reach theenvironment which they imagine in the future thanks to art education.-It is found that, 6.,7, and 8 grade primary school students don?t have enoughinformation about art works around them.-It is found that, the students in the center town have less oppurtunity forapplication in the environment at the art class and work education class.-It is found that, 6.,7., and 8 grade primary school students want someone elsewho is expert in his subject besides their teacher at art class and work educationclass.
