Investigation of dichroic effect in artistic glasses

It has been determined that no research has been conducted on the use of dichroic glass in the artistic field in Turkey and that there is not enough information on dichroic glass types or their use. Within the scope of this thesis, it is aimed to work on this deficiency in this field. In the first part of the thesis, there is an introduction to the thesis. In the second part, glass is discussed in the artistic field and its interaction with light is mentioned. In the third section, the definition and history of dichroic glass are explained. In the fourth part, the usage areas of dichroic glass are mentioned and examples of artists who work with this glass are given. In the fifth part, the glass techniques and glass types used in the study are described and the researcher's practices are included. For this research, an attempt was made to procure dichroic glass types from domestic and foreign markets. It has been determined that no type of dichroic glass is sold domestically and that there is only effetre glass rod with dichroic spraying on the surface half-circle, and that this type of glass is difficult and very costly to obtain from abroad. Personal studies have been carried out in two areas: experiments and artistic production. Original designs have been made based on the interaction of dichroic glass with light, and glass fusion, glass slumping, flame working, and cold glass techniques have been applied using dichroic glass and dichroic effect glass varieties.
