The concept of industry 4.0 and feasibility of it at the urban level in Turkey

Industry 4.0 or the fourth industrial revolution is a concept that was introduced firstly in 2011 at Hannover Fair by the German government and became publicly known as a technology-oriented shifting approach at industry. Starting in the late 18th century, Industry 4.0 is the fourth stage of industrialization. Industry 4.0, which digitalized the integration of end-to-end information and communication technologies and with the lead of such as Cyber-Physical Systems and Internet of Things technologies, characterize a manufacturing structure. Besides urban settlements where more and more people in the world prefer to settle with various reasons, have importance in terms of providing services to inhabitants. At this point, to be able to provide more efficient and qualified urban services to the population which tends to agglomerate in the urbans, the positive impact of technologies in terms of Industry 4.0 to the urban services has been discussed. From this point of view, in this thesis, by mentioning briefly current status of the process of Industry 4.0 in Turkey and the positive impact on urban services of the Industry 4.0 approach is tried to be analyzed in the urban context.
