Abstract (EN)
Urban outer space; open to public use, are spaces that lead people socialize and communicate with each other. These spaces are important for meeting public needs. In this thesis, important points have to be taken into consideration in order to make the urban spaces which are decreasing and damaged day by day more functional and usable spaces. In this study, due to the fact that the urban outdoors Hüdai thermal springs in Sandikli district, which have high tourism potential, are not used and preferred in the expected density and, by analysing the urban outer space, their usage was observed and it is aimed to use these spaces more actively and functionally in order to determine the needs and requirements of urban outer space. Within this scope, the literature review and necessary researches were conducted, and a survey study was applied to understand how the urban outer spaces were interpreted by the users and the survey results were investigated and analysed, and significant results were obtained in terms of user expectations and needs of urban outdoor spaces. According to the results, it was concluded that the Sandıklı Hüdai springs are not easily accessible by the users, that the spaces do not meet the expectations in terms of comfort, aesthetics and diversity, that the city furniture is insufficient and that they do not satisfy the security, cleaning and maintenance. With these results, local administrations, which play a decisive role in applications, were informed and guidance was given for future studies to bring these spaces into the city.
