Abstract (EN)

In this study, refractory materials which take place in kiln cars in sanitaryware production, were used. Cordierite refractories which were expired, were broken and seperated fractions. They were used 68,5 % in the mixture. They are currently used 15-20% in production of refractory materials. Mixture was formed and sintered, then compared to mechanical and physical properties of cordierite refractories which are used in this sector. The percentages and the fractions of the raw materials composed in the system, were determined. XRF, XRD and particle size distribution analysis of raw materials were performed. The samples which were pressed in different pressure were fired in different firing cycles.Mechanical and physical properties of conclusive products were characterized. According to results, optimization was done by firing cycle and K2-b conclusive product was the closest to reference. After sintering mixtures, XRD and SEM analysis of whole products were done.Bending strength and thermal shock resistance tests of K2-b conclusive product were done. The bending strength value of K2-b was 12 MPa and thermal shock resistance test of K2-b was positive.
