Abstract (EN)
Aım: Obesity; is a multiactorial pulic health problem afecting all citizens of the country, which can be seen in individuals of all ages and in all sexes important psychosocial dimensions. The aim of this study was to determine the obesity prevalence and risk factors in Akcakale. Materials and Methods: The cross-sectional study was carried out in the individuals aged 19 years and older who were registered to the Family Medicine Department o Şanlıurfa / Akçakale. In the universe where 1796 individuals were found, the sample was found to be 209 with 95% confidence. İnterval individauls included in the study were determined by systematic sampling method. The data were collected by reserchaer by face to face interview method. Height and body weight measurements were made. The data were evaluated by SPSS program. Number, mean Variance Analysis, t test and Correlation Analysis were used. p<0,05 was considered significant. Results: İn collaborative, 57,6% were male and 42,4% were female. The mean age of the subjects included in the study was calculated as 36,7± 13,5. 17% of of the participants were weak, 34% were normal, 38% were overweight and 20% were obese and 6,3% were morbidly obese. 21,3% of men are obese, 42,8% are overweight women, 33,1% are obese, 31,5% are overweight. Obesity rate was 18,7% and overweight was 23,5% in individuals aged 19-29 years. Obesity rate was 46,2% and overweight was 38,4% in 60 and over individuals. In the study, there was a statistically significant relationship between obesity incidence and gender, age, education level, economic status, first degree obesity in the relatives and the fat type used in the meals consumed. CONCLUSION: Obesity is a public health problem in Akçakale. In the individuals, changeable risk factors (physical activity status, type of fat used in meals, frequency of watching TV, unhealthy nutrition etc.) were determined. Adequate physical activity areas for the society should be established and individuals should be directed to these areas. Obesity, physical activity and healthy nutrition awareness trainings should be given in a practical way and awareness should ve increased. Development o anti-obesity program for women and positive discrimination should be implemented. İndividuals should be directed to the right sources of information ( dietitian, physician, etc.). More active working opportunities should be provided to healthcare proessionals who are experts in nutrition. Key words: Obesity, Prevalence, Adults, Risk Factors, Nutrition
