Abstract (EN)

In this study the activity concentrations in the soil samples of 238U, 232Th and 40K in Ayaklı Village of Viranşehir, Şanlıurfa have been investigated by using the gamma-ray spectrometry. The radioactivity concentration of 238U, 232Th and 40K have been measured as 24,89; 35,23; 310,76Bq/kg respectively. The concentration of the 137Cs which is fission product has been measured as 7.81Bq/kg. The outdoor absorbed dose rates (D), radium equivalent activities (Raeq), external hazard indices (Hex) and corresponding annual effective (AEDE) have been obtained by using the measured activity concentrations. The avarage outdoor absorbed dose rate has been found as (GDR) 46,29nGy/h. The all external hazard indices values have been measured lower than limit value, 1. The results obtained in this work have been compared with previous studies as well as the limit and average values justfied by the international organisations for the human health. GDR: 46.34 nGy/h, REA: 99.20Bq/kg, AEDE(Adults): 56,83 μSv/yıl. It has also been observed that this region has background radiation level within the natural limits.
