Determination of silage quality of mixtures of grass Vetc (Vicianarbonensis) and Italian grass (Lolium multiflorum) in Şanlıurfa province

This research was carried out to determine the silage quality of mixtures of grass vetch (Vicia Narbonensis) and Italian grass (Lolium Multiflorum) planted at different rates in Şanlıurfa province. The study was carried out in 2022 at Harran University Agricultural Research and Application Area, according to the randomized block trial plan with 4 replications. In the research, quality criteria such as pH value, dry matter ratio, ADF, NDF, crude protein ratio, raw ash ratio, silage odor, structure, color and Flieg score of silage were determined as a result of the analyses. The highest pH value was obtained from 50:50 with 5.65 and the lowest pH value was obtained from pure Italian ryegrass mixture with 5.22. The highest dry matter ratio was obtained from 50:50 mixture with 35.75 and the lowest dry matter ratio was obtained from 25:75 big vetch and Italian ryegrass mixture with 31.07. The highest ADF value was obtained from pure Italian ryegrass with 25.00 and the lowest ADF value was obtained from 75:25 big vetch and Italian ryegrass mixture with 22.90. The highest NDF value was obtained from pure Italian ryegrass with 44.76 and the lowest NDF value was obtained from 75:25 big vetch and Italian ryegrass mixture with 29.28. The highest crude ash value was obtained from pure Italian ryegrass with 12.69, the lowest crude ash value was obtained from 50:50 mixture with 8.20. The highest crude protein value was obtained from 50:50 mixture with 35.75, and the lowest crude protein was obtained from pure Italian ryegrass with 26.97. The 50:50 ratio of peach + Italian ryegrass provides digestibility and mineral intake. It was determined that the 75:25 mixture of peach + Italian ryegrass was the most suitable option in terms of digestive efficiency and energy use.
