Abstract (EN)

The theme of this study is that concrete production in Turkey, along with its sector, has effectively increased in recent years. With the year 2009, Turkey has become the leader among concrete producing countries in Europe. Concrete is an important building material that initially has a plastic consistency and is produced by homogeneously mixing aggregates, cement and water according to the production technology with or without the addition of chemical and mineral additives and gains strength through consolidation and hardening over time. Aggregates play an important role in the composition of concrete. Aggregates are granular materials such as sand, gravel, crushed stone, which are used together with cement and water in concrete production. In this study, the use and suitability of aggregates from Seferoğlu quarry and Yetimoğlu quarry in Şanlıurfa province were investigated. The most expensive material used in concrete production is cement, but the cheapest material is aggregate. Therefore, it is economical to use as many aggregates as possible in a concrete mix. In this study, the grolylometry of rock samples from some quarries in Şanlıurfa region for use in concrete production was determined by sieve analysis. In addition, physical properties were determined by specific gravity, volumetric weight, organic matter determination, alkali-silica rectification, freeze-thaw resistance, Los Angeles abrasion, high temperature experiment, capillary water permeability, ultrasonic velocity measurement, and pressure test. A total of 12 cubic concrete specimens of 15x15x15 cm were prepared by calculating the concrete mix according to the standards. The results of compressive strength of 7 and 28 days concrete were obtained. Keywords: Aggregate, Concrete, Quarries
