Abstract (EN)

In all Walnut selection studies conducted in our country from past to present, genotypes with promising fruits that have international standards that are attractive worldwide have been identified and revealed. This thesis study was carried out in Eyyubiye, Karaköprü, Haliliye, Bozova, Harran and Halfeti districts of Şanlıurfa province between 2015 and 2017, fruit and tree characteristics of promising genotypes determined from natural walnut populations in these regions were defined according to UPOV criteria through morphological, phenological observations and pomological analyses conducted for two years. In this study, 20 promising genotypes were selected for Walnut breeding purposes. In selected genotypes, fruit weight 7.90-15.52 g, internal weight 4.15-7.55 g, internal rate 45.25-56.12, shell thickness 1.04-1.59 mm, fruit retention rate in the side branches 40-75 %, protein content 15.40 ± 0.79 - 20.74 ± 0.80 % The moisture content was between 2.41 ± 0.24-3.20±0.14 % and the oil content was 50.49 ± 0.40 - 62.50 ± 0.48 %. It was observed that all selected genotypes were protoandrous flowering. Inner walnut potassium content of genotypes is between 10581.86 mg / kg and 18238.18 mg / kg potassium, phosphorus 5923.07 mg / kg and 14758.85 mg / kg, calcium 934.74 mg / kg and 3963.87 mg, magnesium. 1683.97 mg / kg with 4617.78 mg / kg, sodium 1052.47 mg / kg with 1918.05 mg / kg, zinc 5.11 mg / kg with 6.86 mg / kg, iron with 40 mg / kg with 21.01 mg / kg Copper was found to be 2.14 mg / kg to 8.07 mg / kg and manganese to 5.36 mg / kg to 65.23 mg / kg. As a result of the comparative pomological analysis of the fruit in the end and side branches, no statistically significant differences were found between the fruit characters. ISSR, RAPD, and iPBS markers provided useful information for the molecular charecterization of genotypes. This study was first employing to evaluate the utility of iPBS markers based on retrotransposons in walnut genome.
