Abstract (EN)
Latent acidotic stress (LAS) is caused by prolonged intake of energy-rich nutrients and increased synthesis and resorption of volatile fatty acids during bacterial fermentation and decreased secretion of saliva. LAS is one of the most important problems that threats the animal health and comfort resulting to loss of productivity and animal losses. The aim of this study is to determine the incidence of LAS in Sanliurfa region, which is an important problem in dairy cattle breeding in our country; to investigate the acid-base excretion in urine; to inform the veterinarians about the early diagnosis and treatment of the disease in the field hoping thereby to attract the attention of them to this issue and therefore to contribute to the national economy. One hundred clinically healthy dairy cattle, collected from different dairy cattle farms in Sanliurfa region, were used in this study.
