Abstract (EN)

Children's literature continues to be a focal point and because of that the number of books written in this genre is on rise. Since the content of children's books is critical for children's multifaceted development, it has become a necessity to examine the suitability and the underlying subtexts of these books to see whether they are appropriate for them or not. The subtext of books written for children is vital because it has direct and indirect effects on their personal development, acquiring national and universal values, and adapting to the society they live in. Sara Gürbüz Özeren is one of the important figures among children's book authors in Turkish literature. She has written a collection of 10 books which is called "My Pen Pal". In this research, Özeren's book collection has been examined in terms of educational subtexts and the way they are conveyed. Furthermore, in these books, the data regarding the personal, social and moral development of children and their acquisition of national and universal values has been studied in depth. As a result, it has been determined that Özeren's works have a rich content in terms of educational subtexts.
