Collective memory projections of sarikamiş operation

Sarıkamış Operation was investigated by taking into consideration the memory opinions of Connerton and Assmann. Oral history method was guiding in this study and the statements of Vansına regarding being an eye witness were utilized. In the filed studies held in Kars, Sarıkamış and Selim, problems like ?whose information? and ?whose memory? were faced. It has been figured out that the reflection of Sarıkamış Operation on social memory depends on every group, development and time and that this development is not directed towards forgetting but towards remembering. The factors that cause this remembering were examined in the thesis. During the research, the issue of history being turned into folklore was observed and such cases were argued in the light of scientific data.
