Abstract (EN)
With this thesis, by taking into consideration the basic concepts of "phenomenological ontology" and "atheistic humanist existentialism" which are founded by Jean-Paul Sartre, Sartre's "committed art theory" has been studied in terms of the practices of "self-deception" [mauvaise foi] in Sartre's selected literary works. In the first chapter of this thesis, which consists of four chapters, Being and Nothingness, in which Sartre founded his "phenomenological ontology", is examined. In this chapter, it has been tried to reveal what phenomenological ontology is. In the second chapter of the thesis, Sartre's work Existentialism is a Humanism, in which he defines atheistic humanist existentialism, is examined. This work has been tried to be examined considering that Sartre continues the moral implications of his phenomenological ontology as he said at the end of the Being and Nothingness. In the third chapter of the thesis, by taking into account the moral implications brought by Sartre's atheistic humanist existentialism, Sartre's works What is Literature? and A Plea for Intellectual which include Sartre's view on committed art, committed literature and committed intellectual are discussed. In these works, Sartre defines the author and the intellectual as the ones who reveal the world for others. In this context, in the fourth chapter of the thesis, as a writer who reveals the meaning of the world to the others, Sartre's "self-deception" behaviors in his autobiography novel Words, Erostratus, The Wall and The Room stories, The Respectful Prostitute theater play and The Chips are Down scenario novel have been tried to be determined. Key Words: Jean-Paul Sartre, Phenomenological Ontology, Existentialism, Atheistic Humanist Existentialism, Committed Art, Committed Intellectual.
