Abstract (EN)

Effects Of Intraoperative Remifentanil Use On Awakening Period In Children Who Were Administered Sevoflurane And Desflurane In Strabismus Surgery Purpose:emergence agitation is a phenomenon that occurs in the postoperative period and complicates recovery in children undergoing general anesthesia. Applied inhalation and intravenous anesthetic agents can affect emergence agitation. In our study, we aimed to compare the effects of sevoflurane / remifentanil and desfluran / remifentanil anesthesia on emergence and early agitation in patients who had strabismus surgery. Materials and Methods:In our study, 60 pediatric patients between the ages of 1 and 9, who had a physical status of ASA I-II, were going to be applied.Patients were randomly divided into two groups.Premedication was applied to all patients.Anesthesia was applied to Group I (n = 30) with sevoflurane + 0.25 ug / kg / min remifentanil, and to Group II was desflurane + 0.25 ug / kg / min remifentanil.Paracetamol was applied to all patients for postoperative analgesia. In the intraoperative period, hemodynamic parameters, awakening times, extubation times and postoperative PAED and FLACC scores of the patients were recorded. Results:Of the 60 cases included in the study, 30 were male and 30 were female. The mean age of all cases was 4.7 ± 2.4 (1-10) years. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of demographic data.Wake-up time is 4.1 ± 3.1 min in Group I, 5.0 ± 3.2 min in Group II. there is no significant difference between the groups.Extubation time was 6.3 ± 4.4 minutes in Group I, 7.2 ± 4.6 minutes in Group II, and there was no statistical difference between the groups. When the mean values of PAED were examined according to the groups, there was no statistically significant difference (p = 0.714). When the groups were evaluated within themselves, it was determined that PAED decreased statistically in both groups according to the 5th min measurement. There was no significant difference between FLACC mean values between the groups (p = 0.602). Conclusion:We concluded that sevoflurane / remifentanil and desfluran / remifentanil anesthesia did not make a significant difference between patients' waking times and PAED scores in pediatric patients who had strabismus surgery. Key words:Desflurane, emergence agitation, pediatrics, remifentanil, sevoflurane.
