Reflections of the war and migration in art

After the Second World War, the wars in the Middle East caused great social migrations. The reflection of the migrations that occurred along with these wars on the field of art has been determined and examined as the subject of this thesis. However, in order to clarify this issue, first of all, the place of war in human history in the context of war, art and migration has been examined. The concepts and images used by the artists working on the migration caused by the war in the period examined are important. These concepts and images were identified as: migrating people, home, leaving their living place, new living space, moving, walking, migration path, borders, border gates, being a refugee, remembering, leaving, abandoned people, collapsed houses. For this reason, the place where migration finds in art and how the artists deal with the phenomenon of migration in their works are examined. The artists and works examined were selected according to their thesis subject. The approach to art history was also carried out in this context. On this basis, literature review and qualitative research methods have been adopted as research methods in the thesis. In the literature review, readings on social sciences and political sciences were made. As a result, the subject addressed in this thesis is presented as an important subject for artists in the globalizing world. It is revealed that the artistic transmissions of the artists who migrated in this regard form a universal language in their works based on their own subjective lives. It has been determined that the works related to migration that emerged in different places and different dates are reinterpreted and produced by today's artists due to the factual similarities of migration. The works were produced using colored paint techniques and all kinds of contemporary art techniques. As a result of my research on the field, I contributed to the field of art by producing works. The effects of the artists have also been seen in my works. Considering the known history of humanity, it is concluded that the phenomenon of immigration recurring in the field of art with contemporary artworks increases day by day and creates a universal awareness.
