Electric motors are machines that convert electrical energy into mechanical energy and are used in all areas of life. The faults of these motors creates loss of production and increases the operating cost. Therefore, with fast fault detection, hardware damage and repair costs are reduced while long operating life and energy savings are ensured. Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors(LSPMSM) with advantage high efficiency and high power factor have been widely used in require constant speed. For this reason, monitoring of LSPMSMS is very important. In this study, a new method based on signal analysis in the time-frequency dimension is presented by Gabor-Order Tracking Analysis (Gabor-OTA) for the detection of winding faulty in LSPMSM. The winding faults in the motor is artificially constructed using a rheostat. The current and digital speed signals of the faulty and healty phases of the motor were monitored for five different loads (0, 50%, 75%, 100% and 115% load) and in stable and dynamic operating conditions for healty and faulty conditions and recorded on a computer. Stable condition is constant speed constant load operation, dynamic conditions are variable speed constant load and variable load constant speed operation. The collected data were analyzed by OTA method and the frequency of fault harmonics were calculated. The frequency component of the fault was found to be in the 6th order, which corresponds to the 3rd harmonic of the fundamental frequency. Signal of the 6th order harmonic component in the time dimension is obtained via the Gabor-OTA to determine the fault status and the fault level. By calculating the energy level and the statistical parameters of this signal component, the properties of the fault and fault levels have been extracted. The results showed that the proposed method was a successful method for detecting stator winding failures in LSPMSM.
