The evaluation of piano arrangements of particular Bolu region folk songs in fine arts high school curriculum

With this study, it is purposed to create western art musical works, which are recomposed Turkish Folk Music melodies prevalent in the Bolu region, that are intended to be used in Anatolian Fine Arts High Schools piano classes and contribute to the curriculum of Ministry of Education Fine Arts High Schools piano curriculum. The study has been started by analyzing the etudes that stayed out of the 2018-2019 Fine Arts High School 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade piano books with the scale model that is developed in terms of education technique and score analysis. The data reached has been converted to quantitive data in SPSS data analysis software and its fundamental features, gains and targets have been designated proportionally. Each of 5 Bolu region folk songs chosen from the TRT Turkish Folk Music repertoire has been recomposed for Anatolian Fine Arts High School 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade levels, containing the subjects and gains in the curriculum and analyzed according to the same scale. Lastly, similarity and difference ratios are determined comparing both of the analysis data. Following that, within the scope of the subject, interview questions have been prepared towards the music teachers at Fine Arts High Schools and instructors at music educations departments, and interviews have been conducted. The data attained have been evaluated by qualitative data analysis. In the other part of the research, questionnaires have been applied to the Fine Art High School piano department students and the knowledge and interest of them towards Turkish folk music have been analyzed. As a result of the study, 5 works have been created, each arranged for all grades which add up to 20 in total. Besides that, comments and recommendations are made in the direction of the data attained.
