The, Ethics of Fakhr al-Razi in his selected works

This study is an attempt to estimate and analyse the ethics of Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, famous ex'egete of Koran, who had lived in eleventh and twelfth centuries. There has been no scientific study on Fakhr al-Din al-Razi's philosophical views, especially his ethical views, although there are many studies about his understanding of exegesis and theology. Razi's ethical understanding consists of interrelation between ethics and rational psychology. For this reason, the introduction deals with Razi's psychology; the nature of human being ( human soul). The first chapter examines Razi's ethical viewpoints in respect of their aim. This aim, i.e. happiness, has been analysed with special reference to perfection, good(ness), pleasure, wealth and worldly position. The second chapter deals with the actions for happiness, besides with the conditions of moral actions, i.e. freedom of the will, moral responsibility and the virtues. The third chapter tries to analyse the love of the wealth, hypocrisy, the love for wordly position, the praise and the condamnation which are,.according to Razi, negative qualities for the good character.
