Abstract (EN)
Water is one of the most basic needs for humanity. There is a high need for water in order to sustain life and human activities. Today, variables such as the increase in urbanization, climatic factors, economic developments, industrialization, and changes in demographic structure are considered as serious factors affecting water consumption. When the water consumption values of the last years are examined, it is seen that there is a serious increase in water consumption. For this reason, it should be aimed to use water in the most efficient way by researching the effects on water consumption and making quality planning studies. In this study, Trend Analysis methods such as Spearman's Rho Test, Sen's Trend Slope Test, Mann-Kendall Test and Mann-Kendall Rank-Rank Correlation Test were applied on the monthly domestic water consumption values of four different neighborhoods of Konya with different characteristics. By using different variables, parameter reduction was made with the help of Factor Analysis and nonlinear water consumption models were created with Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) Optimization Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Algorithm, which are metaheuristic optimization algorithms. Coefficient of Determination (R²), Mean Squared Error (MSE), MSE/R² and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient (NSE) were used as evaluation criteria. In the last part of the study, the temporal interaction mechanisms in the water consumption phenomenon were investigated with the help of a new method called Band Similarity Method (BSM) by using the models obtained from the optimization algorithms. The findings were evaluated within the framework of the characteristics of the neighborhoods. As a result of the study, it was seen that especially the construction style is an important factor in water consumption. Neighborhoods that are similar or differentiated in terms of construction style have exhibited similar behaviors in many frameworks. In addition, another important finding of the study was that the PSO method was more unsuccessful than the FA method and could not improve the results. For the 4 neighborhoods studied, the BSM increased the test success of the models and was able to reach results showing that there is a temporal interaction. In this respect, it has been concluded that the phenomenon of water consumption in the studied regions remembers the changes in its past. It is thought that the study will contribute to the literature in terms of being a successful application of a new method, BSM, and obtaining important findings about the temporal interaction mechanism in the phenomenon of water consumption.
