Abstract (EN)

"Sehrengiz" is a genre in Turkish litereture that has emerged since XVI. century. This type of literary genre is also about profession expert tradesmen who live in that city in addition to the natural and architectural beauties of the city. Examples of "Sehrengiz" themselves are assumably a source of social history of Ottoman Empire due to including its urban life, lifestyle, occupations and natural beauties of the era. In this thesis, "Sehrengiz"s that are written from XVI. century to the end of XIX. century and published in various sources untill today are examined. First of all, "sehrengiz"s are introduced as their shapes and content features. Secondly, the Tradesmen in the "Sehrengiz"s were included and the words of praise used in depictions, centuries and cities they lived in and occupations of these tradesmen were determined. Tradesmen were sorted alphabetically by their name. Thus, starting from the tradesmen introduced in the "Sehrengiz"s, the social life of the period, tradesmen, vocabulary used in the praise of tradesmen and the resulting, profession expert descriptions were tried to be explained.
