Transcription and evaluation of Mehmed Saîd Efendi's Tuhfe-i Mustafâviyye fî Beyân-i Kapudanân-i Devlet-i Aliyyesi

Ottoman maritime history constitutes one of the most important parts of Ottoman history. The locomotive of Ottoman maritime history is the sea captains. As a matter of fact, sea captains are people who are at the center of maritime activities and manage the activities. Advances in the seas depend on the success of the sea captains. In this study, the transcription and evaluation of Şehrîzâde Mehmed Saîd Efendi's Tuhfe-i Mustafâviyye fî Beyân-ı Kapudanân-ı Devlet-i Aliyye, which tells about the life of the captains. In the work, the lives of all the Ottoman Sea Captain's from its foundation until 1704 are explained. While describing the lives of sea captains, the events in the seas of their time are described in detail. Therefore, the work contains important information about the Ottoman maritime history along with the lives of the sea captains. In the evaluation of this work, maritime activities in the pre-Ottoman Islamic States and the Ottoman Empire were explained in general terms. In addition, the life and works of Şehrîzâde Mehmed Saîd Efendi, the formal features of the work were explained and the work was summarized.
