Abstract (EN)

Shape memory alloys are in the class of materials that are difficult to process. This disadvantage causes wear of cutting tools, high cutting forces and poor surface quality during the machining of the material. In this study, the effect of coolants and lubricants in the processing of shape memory alloys was investigated in terms of machining performance. Machining experiments were performed under dry, MQL, MQL + CO2, coolant and LN2 conditions. At the end of the experiments, the wear, cutting force and cutting temperatures of the cutting tools were examined. Within the scope of the study, the surface integrity properties of the machined materials were also examined extensively. Surface roughness, sub-surface hardness, microstructure, XRD analysis and DSC analysis of the machined samples were made. Linear abrasion tests were conducted to examine the abrasion resistance of the samples machined in different processing parameters. Machining simulations of NiTiHf shape memory alloy material were also made within the scope of the study. For simulation studies, sensitivity analysis of the material was made and simulations were made according to these values. As a result of the simulations, a comparison was made with the experimental data.
