Abstract (EN)

The aim of the present study is to measure sucess levels of eight grade students' algebraic verbal problem solving skills by their acquisition of eight grade mathematical lessons' algebraic cirricilum, creating equations and using these equations properly to solve solve the problem, besides it is important to determine the errors. The data used in the study was obtained from eight grade studdents that continue their education in MEB schools during 2018-2019 academic year in Bursa province Osmangazi district. The data was obtained from 200 randomly selected students. Present study used problem solving test concerning 8 open ended questions that include algebraic problems. The results of the obtained data was investigated due to the students' ability to form algebraic problem solving equations and solving abilities, hence document analysis was conducted in order to determine error types. According to the data obtained for the study it is determined that students' algebraic problems equation set up and using these equations successfully is low. Besides, it is determined that eight grade level students' equation set up and solving processes require certain error types.
