Abstract (EN)
The historical city center of Eski Malatya (Battalgazi), an important Seljuk period Anatolian city; In addition to having a unique value as an archaeological site integrated with the city, its historical and cultural richness, the identity of the city center it has carried for centuries, its uninterrupted settlement, cosmopolitan structure, being a typical Seljuk city, its strategic location in its period and its importance in the past are today It was determined as a study area due to the loss of. The aim of the thesis study, Battalgazi III. Degree Archaeological Site and Interaction Area is to determine the spatial and functional dimensions of the Seljuk urban heritage and to produce protection-development-revitalization proposals for the future. In this direction, spatial analyzes were made for the urban design/renewal/improvement applications planned for the area and the spatial base of the area was revealed. In line with the lack of sufficient data on the Seljuk period settlement model of the city, the sources of the period were examined, scientific researches were examined, and the Seljuk period city plan and spatial organization of the study area were tried to be analyzed by making comparisons with the Seljuk cities that have similar identity. In this context, in order to determine the urban elements of the period, determinations were made using land models produced from the height data of the study area, aerial photographs and Malatya city plans in scientific studies. In order to determine the change of the study area in the historical process, historical orthophotos and existing satellite images were digitized via the QGIS program and maps were created with change analysis. The data obtained in the direction of on-site observations made in the field were digitized through the QGIS program, and the current situation spatial analyzes of the study area were carried out and maps were created.
