Abstract (EN)
This study has examined the subject of "The Economic and Social History of the City of Baghdad in the Time of the Seljuks" and has been discussed in four chapters. In the first chapter, the historical geography of Iraq, the city of Baghdad, its administrative classes, the rivers passing through Baghdad, the reasons for the construction of this city and the factors that were effective in the selection of its location were discussed. In addition, the commercial, political and scientific importance of Baghdad was mentioned. The stages of moving the administrative center from Baghdad to Samarra, then bringing the administrative center back to Baghdad and the situation of Baghdad until the end of the Abbasid state were discussed. In the second part, the physical structure of Baghdad during the Seljuk period was examined. In Seljukid period, where the zoning structures were located on the Tigris and Euphrates, the importance of these two rivers for irrigation and drinking water and the effect of these two rivers on the construction of the city of Baghdad were discussed. In addition, palaces, madrasahs, hospitals, ribats, zawiyas of religious communities and the walls of Baghdad were investigated. At that time, the Seljuks had a great role in the development of the art of building and reconstruction. Art traces of the Seljuks can be seen in most of the buildings and decorations. In the third chapter, the economic life, trade, income, bazaars, agriculture, animal husbandry, industry and mining of the province of Baghdad are discussed. At that time Baghdad was the center of industry. Commercial products were taken from there to neighboring towns. In addition, the units of measurement used in Baghdad at that time, product prices, economic situation and the reasons for the collapse of the economy were examined. In the fourth chapter, the social life of the city of Baghdad, the relations of the Muslim people with the caliphs, the relations of the people with the Jews and Christians are discussed. The views of the people on the Seljuk administration, the daily lives of the people of Baghdad such as eating, drinking, dressing and working, their holidays and other issues were examined.
