Abstract (EN)

The overall aim of this research is to examine the effect of scenario-based learning approach on primary school students' environmental awareness. The research was conducted in a public school in southeastern Anatolia region for the 2021-2022 academic year. Two branches with primary school 4th grade students were selected for the research; One of the branches formed the experimental group and the other the control group. The experimental group consisted of 12 male and 9 female students; The control group consisted of 43 participants, 11 male and 11 female students. While the experimental group from the groups formed was trained with a scenario-based learning approach, the students who formed the control group were trained through traditional education. The research process lasted 4 weeks. In the study, data were collected with environmental literacy skill achievement test, diaries, unstructured interview, posters and slogans. The success test data obtained in the study were analyzed by non-parametric test. Daily, unstructured interviews, posters and slogans were analyzed by content analysis. As a result of the data obtained in the research, it was revealed that the scenario-based learning approach increased the academic success of the students. Scenario-based learning approach has been found to be effective in concept teaching. In addition, although students had difficulties at first, it was revealed that over time, their ability to produce solutions, think critically and analyze developed.
