Abstract (EN)
Moving from the history of orchestral development this study aims to be a comprehensive and contemporary resource written in Turkish that encapsulate the history of auxiliary percussions, their importance and place in the orchestra, their construction features, fundamental playing techniques and curriculum development, first and foremost for percussionists, percussion students and anyone interested in music. The modernization of the instruments during the Industrial Revolution contributed in return to the growth and development of the orchestra. Auxiliary percussion instruments, which have become a part of the developing and expressive orchestra, have turned into instruments that composers frequently use in their works, especially since the Romantic Period, thanks to their wide range of colors and their contribution to the orchestra in the rhythmic sense. However, this specific instrument group, which has unique playing techniques and repertoire, is not given enough importance in today's education, and in order to eliminate this deficiency, the subject has been examined by considering the important points within the scope of this study. Findings in this study on fundamental playing techniques and the curriculum development were created by self-narrative transfer of life experience based on long-term studies with internationally recognized percussion artists, as well as extensive readings and literature review. Keywords: Auxiliary percussion, Orchestra, Fundamental playing techniques, Curriculum.
