Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of the study, a power converter was designed to be used in the satellite electrical power subsystem. For satellite applications, the active service life of a satellite mainly depends on its battery life. Charge and discharge currents play an important role in the lifetime of batteries. For this reason, converters used in power supplies containing batteries should be designed to prevent pulsed currents of batteries. The power converter proposed in this study is used to transfer energy from the battery to the supercapacitor while the synthetic aperture radar load is active. Accordingly, the life of the battery and therefore the life of the satellite will be extended. Besides preventing the pulsating currents of the batteries, the proposed converter is also capable of increasing and decreasing the input voltage without experiencing any instability issues. The operating performance of the system consisting of Weinberg and Buck converters was analyzed using PSim software, and the study was confirmed with the results obtained from the experimental studies. Analyzes of reliability and efficiency are presented. The results show that the converter works by providing the necessary conditions for satellite applications.
