Evaluation of functional and aesthetic outcomes in patients undergoing septorhinoplasty

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate surgical success in patients undergoing septorhinoplasty for both aesthetic and functional purposes by using subjective patient-reported outcome measures. In this context, preoperative and postoperative scores of the Rhinoplasty Outcome Evaluation (ROE) and the Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) questionnaires were compared to analyze the effects of surgery on both respiratory function and aesthetic satisfaction. Materials and Methods: This prospective, observational clinical study was conducted between September 2025 and February 2026 at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine, Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University. A total of 40 patients aged between 18 and 34 years were included. All surgeries were performed using the open technique by the same surgeon, and evaluations were conducted at the 3th postoperative month. Results: Postoperative NOSE scores showed a 67% reduction, while ROE scores increased by 65%, both statistically significant (p < 0.001). No significant differences were found according to gender or educational level. Conclusion: Septorhinoplasty provides significant functional and aesthetic benefits, and patient-reported outcome measures such as ROE and NOSE are valuable tools for assessing surgical success.
