Abstract (EN)

The "Ceramic Lathe Forming Method" has undoubtedly been significant in ceramics production, which with a long history, and the art of contemporary ceramics. In the beginning, humans started to produce containers for food, storage and religious purposes to make their lives easier by forming the fat/plastic soil they found in nature. Afterwards, they embarked on a quest to make production faster and produce more ceramics in the same time period. Humans, who aimed to accelerate the production rate of food-drink-storage containers and make their use easier, still prefer the aforementioned method today to finalize artistic designs faster and easier in addition to this basic purpose. In the present study, information was provided on the invention and historical development process of the ceramic lathe forming method, the types of lathes within this development process, the clays and shaping tools used in the said shaping method and the retouching, drying, biscuit firing, decorating, glazing and glaze firing processes. On the other hand, in line with the primary purpose of the present study, the production phases of the basic forms produced with the ceramic lathe forming method were explained in practice and the production of certain multi-piece glued forms was practically analyzed and explained in the light of the aforementioned production phases. Within the scope of the study, certain artists producing multi-piece glued forms with the ceramic lathe forming method were introduced along with their works in order to reinforce the subject and an exhibition consisting of multi-piece glued forms was created.
