Abstract (EN)

In the field of art, printing means to transfer - i.e. to copy- any design or text, as many and in any shape desired, to another surface utilizing the printing techniques of image. It is also possible to use almost all printing techniques -applied in the field of image and graphic-, on ceramic surfaces. To apply these techniques onto ceramic surfaces, it is enough to use supporting materials together with ceramic stains. One of the descriptions of the word ?print? in vocabulary is ?to imprint?. In this context, from past to present one decorated many ceramic surfaces ?shaped on the wheel or by hand-, through the use of seals in addition to imprints created with handprint.Since it enables one to repeat the shape, form or pictorial image, the printing techniques have been widely used by the ceramic decoration for centuries. The method to transfer any image from one surface to the other existed almost thousands of years. These methods have been developed until today and consequently, through simple and repeatable applications found a wide usage area. Many artists apply the complicated and detailed decors easily to ceramic surfaces using the facilities of printing techniques. They benefit from these techniques using some characteristic methods and apply components like painting as well as photography to their works and multiply them utilizing the feature -to produce more than one- of this technique. The printing techniques enable one to transfer an image more than one time; therefore, besides their usage in artistic works, they possess a wide usage area in the industry. Nowadays it is very hard to witness a commercial product that it does not have a printing on itself. Consequently in terms of application, contrary to the past, nowadays the techniques can be realized much more easily and quickly. Furthermore it is possible to buy easily in our country all necessary printing materials from stores which sell ceramic products.Owing to facilities offered by the technology, nowadays the printing techniques turn into a supplementary element for ceramic surfaces and hit their place between the widely applied techniques.
