Abstract (EN)

Cervical cancer is the third common cancer, following breast and lung cancer, among women of all ages. It occupies the second most common cause of death due to malignancy. The epidemiological studies established HPV as the major risk factor of cervical cancer. A long preinvasive period and easy cervical examination provide advanges to prevent cervical cancer. In this study , we examined HPV presence as well as cervical pap-smear in our patients. 30 cases with a premalignant cervical lesions diagnosed by smear, and 30 cases with normal smears were included in our study. HPV was examined by PCR in cervical smears and subtyped by reverse hybridization (Gen ID PCR). Cases with premalign cervical lesions and normal cervical smears were compared according to the the age of last delivery, cigarette smoking, contraceptive method, age, the begining age and the period of sexual activity.Colposcopical examination was performed on patients with premalignt cervical lesions, HRHPVDNA was commonly detected as positive in the group of cases with premalignant cervical lesions. The HPV prevelence was relatively higher in this region of our country. HPVDNA positivity was also more common in the group with abnormal colposcoy.
