Abstract (EN)
THE APPROPRIATENESS OF VOICE TRAINING TECHNIQUES TO ARTICULATION MECHANISMS AND TO TURKISH PHONATICS (Ph.D THESIS) Nilgün SAZAK GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE OCTOBER - 2001 ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to examine whether voice training techniques are appropriate to Turkish phonetics and articulation mechanisms, to make comments and to make suggestions where necessary. The scope of the study is Gazi University Faculty of Education Fine Arts Department Music Teaching Department and the instructors who are specialized in voice lesson which is at the fifth and sixth terms in voice training field and the students who take this course. In this study, experimental model is used as well as personal inventory. According to this model, the data is gathered by documentary model. Structural interviewing technique is used for the expertise views, an evaluation model which is experiment - control group is used for subject analysis. In order to use experimental research model, the technical standarts of the computerized system are identified, the subjects are experimented one by one. After being collected, the data's frequency and percentage ratios are identified. The data is based upon the expertise views. It has been identified that the experts could not come to a conclusion on the definition of voice education and articulation concepts, they did not apply suitable exercises to the Turkish saying and did not find any differences between the female - male voice groups' articulation features. It has been understood that the results of the student analyses and the data gathered from the specialized educators do not correspond. In subject analyses, the t- test is applied to the experiment - control groups and a big difference is found in female's a, o, ö, u, ü vocals; in male's a and u vocals. In the study, comments are made and suggestions are given for the appropriateness of voice training techniques to articulation mechanisms and to Turkish phonatics.
