Abstract (EN)

In this research the evaluation of Primary Education Turkish Lesson Program (Grades 1-5.) and teaching initial reading and writing with the Phoneme Based Sentence Method that has been applied basically in Ankara since the 2005-2006 academic year is presented.In the research; in the 2005-2006 academic year, 144 Primary Education Grade 1 students were observed for eight months in terms of the learning reading and writing process, their reading and writing skills, their reading and writing speeds and their comprehension skills. 155 Primary Education Grade 2 students who form the research` s illustration group were observed for two months in terms of their reading and writing skills, their reading and writing speeds and their comprehension skills in story based and informative texts. By implementing pre and post tests to 196 Primary Education Grade 1 teachers their opinions about the the Phoneme Based Sentence Method were determined.In this research, a variety of technique such as combing model, questionnare and observation techniques and models have been used. In the processes of interpretation of data; form charts , line diagrams and column graphics have been created and the datas, which were acquired by using variety of statistical techniques such as t test and ANOVA test, have been interpretated.In the research, when the observed Primary Education Grade 2 students? ?preference in writing styles? was examined, it has been concluded that; 75% of the students who have learned initial reading and writing with PBSM prefer agglutinative slanted writing while 17% of the students who have learned initial reading and writing with SB prefer this style in writing. It has been determined that; the teachers who work in pilot schools find PBSM more usable and also all the teachers? answers are in the favor of post-test and PBSM.Key Words: Phoneme Based Sentence Method, Initial Reading and Writing Teaching, Reading and Writing, Primary Education Turkish Lesson Teaching Program.
