The effect of the training video record arranged by voice description on self-breast examination of visually- impaired

Object: The object of the study is to examine the effect of the training video which was recorded by voice description on the skills of Breast Self Examination (BSE) of visually- impaired. Materials and Method: The study is a quasi-experimental study.The universe of the study is consisted from the blind women who are the registered members Manisa Six Point Association of the Blind. Breast self examination (BSE) video prepare, then socio-demographic features, BSE information form and Champions Health Belief Model Scale (CHBMS) were used before training; BSE Skill Evaluation Form was used after training. BSE training video contains voice description made to listen to the experiment group, while the training video without voice description made to listen to the control group. Findings: Average age of the participants is 38.4±9, in experiment group, and 39.6±11.3 in control group. Average disability status of the experiment group is %81.5±%15.1, of the control group is %81.9±17. There is not any statistically significant difference found between the groups (p>0.05). Any significantly difference between the average scores of total scores of sub-dimensions of Sensibility and Staidness Averageof the sub-dimension total score for CHBMS sensibility and staidness before training (p>0.05). It is determined that there is a statistically significant difference between the performing the BSE skills steps between the experiment and control groups after the training (p<0.05). Conclusion:It is determined that before the training, most of the visually- impaired. Neither heard nor performed the BSE.It is observed that after the training, while the most of the visually- impaired who listened the voice description video, performed the BSE skills steps; the women who listened the training video without voice description performed these skillsin a low rate.
