Examination of the traditional residential architecture of Çavuş District of Seydişehir

Since ancient times, civilizations have settled in areas close to fertile soil and water resources. Seydişehir and Beyşehir Counties, with their fertile soil and water resources, hosted many civilizations. This situation is understood from the ruins around these regions. Çavuş District of Seydişehir is located on Konya-Seydişehir Road, and attracts people's interest at first sight with.its remarkable stone texture and cantilevers in grand style. In this study, the traditional residential architecture of Çavuş District houses which are thought to be the subject of research with its qualities, is examined. The study consists of six chapters. In the first chapter, the aim, scope, material and method of the study and literature review is given. In the second chapter, a detailed description of the concept of traditional Turkish house, including historical development, definition, spatial characteristics and plan types, is explained. In the third chapter, under the title of general characteristics of Çavuş District; its history, geographical location and climate, population, social and economic status of the settlement and examples of civil architecture have been put forward. In the fourth section; the six houses that chosen as samples, which have survived to the present day with original characteristics from the Çavuş District, have been handled in accordance with the architectural discipline. With the location and current status of these buildings, construction history, architect or constructor, architectural features and decoration, material and technical properties, repairs and alterations, surveys, photographs and verbal interviews with landlords, evaluations of these houses were properly made to conservation approach and principles. In the fifth and sixth chapter, the general characteristics of the buildings are given and the typological characteristics of the region are revealed by comparing the houses that examined.
