List of characters in the Şeyh Gâlib's Dîvân

Şeyh Gâlib has an important role in the 18th century of Dîvân literature. He collected his poems under the pseudonyms Esad and Gâlib and created his Dîvân when he was 24 years old. He played a great role in the development of Dîvân Literature with his many inventions and metaphors he created. One of the most important aspects of Şeyh Gâlib's works is that it has sufistic foundations. Using strong symbols in his works, Gâlib frequently included elements of imagination. The Dîvân of Şeyh Gâlib, which we discussed in this study, is a good example of mythology, history, religion and legends being the source of Dîvân poetry. The large number of mythological and legendary figures that we come across in the work, the imagination that the poet create around these names and his skill in processing the mentioned elements, give us remarkable information about the old narrative and the richness of meaning created by the individuals in the Classical Turkish poetry tradition. Heroes originating from Şehname or religious figures of Arab and Greek origin, which are referred to in many couplets, reinforce the needed imagination and offer new possibilities to the poet in terms of expression. The semantic expansions of the people and motifs included in the work also reveal the cultural richness of Classical Turkish poetry. In this case, the examination of Şeyh Gâlib's Dîvân in terms of mythological - legendary - historical - religious personalities will provide an opportunity to reveal an important aspect of Classical Turkish poetry. Because it is seen that this work contains very rich material in order to exemplify the intertextual uses, especially through individuals. In line with the poetization of new and original dreams, how Şeyh Gâlib evaluates and interprets these personalities is only possible with the classification and analysis of this material.
