Abstract (EN)
Şeyh Galib is the conclusive advanced representative of the Classical Ottoman Poetry. He achieved the peak point concerning the usage of symbolism. Apprehending the mystery in his poetry would not be a simple work. Just analyzing the explanations of the words that are used would not be efficient to find out the genuine, entire meaning. He loads far more than traditional poetical connotative meanings to the words that he used.?Time? is a concept, which is highly abstract and hard to apprehend. The time concept is covered with many words in linguistics. In this work, the connotative meanings of the words that Galib used in terms of the time concept are stressed. Also, the words which metaphorically signify ?time? through the overall inference of his work are examined. This study covers how the words and concepts that signify ?time? are perceived by the author Şeyh Galib.Key Words: Classical Ottoman Poetry, Şeyh Galib, symbolism, time.
