Community, nation and state for Sezai Karakoç

Our study, whose title is "Community, Nation and State for Sezai Karakoc", is comprised of three main parts other than introduction and conclusion. After the significance, aim, method and resources were explained in the introduction, a general evaluation was made on political philosophy. The biography and works of Sezai Karakoc were mentioned here briefly. In the first part, Karakoc's perception of community, the importance of family, mosque, school and state mechanisms that he regards as the components of a community, and the questions and factors that lead the communities to fall were defined. In addition, the concepts which he relates to the community such as civilization, revival, economy, rights and responsibilities; community models and his ideal community were specified. In the second part, the concepts of nation, which he describes as the major element of a community and state, state, culture, civilization and ummah were discussed. Also, his ideal community model as well as the poets and intellectuals whom he cares remarkably were determined. As for the third part, Karakoc's perception of state, the concepts in relation to state like state-citizen and state-community were examined. Moreover, the elements of a state, basic principles of a state, the qualifications that a statesman must possess and ideal state perception were studied. From his writings regarding the basic concepts of political philosophy and the fact that he founded a political party, it can be clearly understood that he is closely interested in political thought. However, it could be concluded that these are not adequate to claim he is a political philosopher.
