Sezai Karakoç as a literary critic: An example from memories I-II

In this study, the works titled "HATIRALAR I" and "HATIRALAR II" by Sezai Karakoç, one of the leading figures of modern Turkish literature, have been identified and examined in the context of the author's role as a literary critic. During this examination, the primary sources "HATIRALAR I-II" were used to classify the individuals, texts, publications, and events predominantly mentioned in these works. These elements were analyzed under various headings to serve as a reference for the history of Turkish literature and Sezai Karakoç's literary contributions. Firstly, the nature of criticism as a genre, who can be a critic, the nature of the memoir genre, and how to follow criticisms through memoirs were discussed. Subsequently, Karakoç's main criticisms of individuals, works and texts, publications (magazines), and other criticisms outside the literary field were addressed. However, since the primary focus of this study is on literary criticism, political, sociological, and public criticisms have not been examined here. Keywords: Sezai Karakoç, Criticism, Critic, Memoir.
