Abstract (EN)

Aim: Today, especially with the innovations and changes brought about by globalization, international migrations have increased; began to influence political, economic and social life to a large extent. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the attitudes of refugee students towards folk dances and their adaptation to school and social integration. Method: In this study, scanning model was used and "Relational Scanning Model", one of the scanning models, was used. Relational scanning model; It enables to determine the presence and/or degree of co-variation between two or more variables. The research universe of this study consists of refugee students studying at high school level in Diyarbakır. In this context, this study, which was carried out in the province of Diyarbakır with the simple random sampling method, was carried out in 80 schools in 4 central districts of the city center (Sur, Bağlar, Yenişehir, Kayapınar). All refugee students participating in the study voluntarily participated. In the study, Attitude Scale Towards Folk Dances, School Adjustment Scale and Social Integration Scale in Sports were used as data collection tools. Results: As a result of the analysis of the data, no significant difference was found in the examination of the relationship between the attitudes of refugee students towards folk dances and their adaptation to school and their social integration in sports. On the other hand, it was seen that the participation of male students was higher than that of female students. The significant difference was determined only in the subtitle of socialization, which is one of the subtitles of the social integration scale in sports. As a result, it is accepted that folk dances can be a good way of socialization and provide an environment where children can learn and apply social and ethical values. Despite the fact that the unifying and socializing effect of folk dances has a positive effect on refugees and the participation rate is higher than school adjustment and social integration, it has been observed that there is no significant difference between the scale views of folk dances on refugee students according to gender and class variables, except for the social integration sub-dimension.
