ABSTRACTMSc THESISEFFECT OF COW MANURE AND YEAST (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) ON ZOOPLANKTON PRODUCTIVITYSelçuk GÖRELŞAHİNÇUKUROVA UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCESDEPARTMENT OF AQUACULTURESupervisor:Prof. Dr. Mahmut YANARYear: 2012, Pages: 55Jury:Prof. Dr. Mahmut YANAR:Prof. Dr. Suat DİKEL:Prof. Dr. Oya IŞIKIn this study was determined to the effects of different rates of cow manure (0, 0.75, 1.5, 3 kg/m3) and (1.75 kg/m3) with yeast (0, 0.0375, 0.150 kg/m3) in the pond on phytoplankton and zooplankton productivity of water. The highest phytoplankton density was occurred with 3 kg/m3 fertilizer dose on 10th day after addition of fertilizer. Depending on the dose of fertilizer, depth of secchi disk among the groups were 30-70 cm, while amount of chlorophyll a were 37-165 µg/L. But, yeast has not an impact on the formation of phytoplankton. Zoopankton biomass in ponds were varied from 39 to 1504 µg/L, depending on amount and duration of manure and/or yeast. While highest biomass amount was obtained on 10th and 15th day with 3 kg/m3 manure dose, 20th day was provided with 0.75 manure dose. Optimal yeast amount in fertilized pond was found as 0.0375 kg/m3 dose. After fertilization, the first group of emerging was algae on 10th day, and then it was followed rotifer on 15th day and copepod and cladocer on 20th day. Highest zooplankton abundance was consisted of rotifer. Then it was followed by cladocer and copepod.Key Words: Manure, yeast, zooplankton, phytoplankton, productivity
