Abstract (EN)
Brucellosis is a contagious zoonotic infection that causes economic loss in animal breeding by abortus, infertility and loss in milk yield. Serological tests are used widely in herd screening, determination of titre after vaccination and preparation of eradication programmes. Aim of this study was to determine the presence of Brucella in sera taken from sheeps and cattles in Artvin region. 26 (1.04 %) serum samples taken from 250 cattle and 20 (8.0 %) serum samples taken from 250 sheep were found weakly positive in Rose Bengal Plate Test (RBPT). All serum samples which were subjected to Tube Agglutination Test and ELISA were found to be negative. As a conclusion it is determined that the region is under control for Brucella infection.Key Words: Cattle, sheep, Brucella, agglutination, ELISA
