The unseen face of violence: Violence of women against women

The concepts of violence and woman, which form the two main pillars of this study, are among the research topics that have been handled and discussed for centuries. However, in the literature, the phenomenon of violence against women is mostly addressed within the framework that the male is the perpetrator and the woman is the victim. It is evident that one way of looking at the woman as a whole in other words reaching constitutive assessments is to examine the parts that make up the constitution. Therefore, this study examines a subject neglected in gender studies; the 'violence of women against women' by aiming to point out the invisible face of the iceberg. In this context, by applying semi-structured interview forms an "in-depth interview" was conducted with twenty nine women in total, who were resident in Eskişehir and Muş provinces and selected with the snowball sample type. In these interviews, participants were analyzed in different areas of daily life such as family and neighborhood relationships, business life and university environment. As a result, women admitted that they were subjected to violence fromtheir fellows and they described them with adjectives/features like jealous, desiring to stand out with their beauty or gossipers. The interviewees, who stated that they do not trust the women around them, emphasized that they agree with the idea that "the woman is other woman's wolf", which the media has turned into humor. In summary, in this study carried out by adhering to the principles of qualitative approach, 'violence of women against women was dealt with ' within the framework of the questions 'how' and 'why' and the causal dynamics behind the negative qualifications attributed to women by women were examined through the theoretical debates about violence and the data obtained from the field.
