Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to compare the psychological resilience, anxiety and depression levels of individuals with a smoking habit and those without a smoking habit. A total of 387 adults, 278 women and 109 men, participated in the research. A personal information form consisting of 8 questions was used to determine the demographic characteristics of the individuals participating in the research. "Psychological Resilience Scale for Adults", "Beck Depression Scale" and "Beck Anxiety Scale" were used to determine psychological resilience, depression and anxiety levels. During the data analysis process, Samples T test and Two-Way ANOVA analysis were used in the SPSS 25.0 program. At the end of the research, it was found that the psychological resilience levels of the participants were above the medium level, and their depression and anxiety levels were low. It was determined that the psychological resilience level of the participants differed significantly according to smoking status, age group, education level, profession, income level, marital status and chronic disease (p<0.05). It was determined that the level of depression in the individuals participating in the study differed according to the variables of smoking status, gender, education level, profession, income level, marital status and having a chronic disease (p<0.05). In addition, it was found that the anxiety levels of the participants differed according to the variables of smoking status, gender, profession and having a chronic disease (p<0.05). As a result, it can be said that smoking increases the level of depression and anxiety, and demographic factors affect the level of depression, anxiety and psychological resilience.
