Abstract (EN)

Individuals and communities have migrated to other geographical areas since the beginning of human history, for having better life conditions, escaping natural disasters, living their beliefs better, and leaving places where they live for the security reasons. In this respect, it is thought that migration starts from the history of mankind and is a process that individuals can not avoid. Demographic and socio-economic indicators are at the forefront of elements to be considered when examining communities' migration movements. Data on demographic data such as population, age and gender structure, and socio-economic indicators such as agriculture, livestock, industry, foreign trade, education and health provide information on the actual migration movements and also information on the development levels of cities, regions or countries that it serves. Considering migration movements that took place in Turkey, migrations are seen to take place largely from underdeveloped regions, towards developed regions and generally depending on economic reasons. When the migration movements in Siirt province are examined, it is seen that immigration is mostly carried out towards socio-economic and more developed cities depending on social, economic, ethnic and political reasons. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the socio-economic structure of the Siirt province with the migrations taking place in Siirt province and to minimize the negative situations on the socio-economic structure of migrants and contribute to the regional development. This study is considered to be of particular importance in terms of the deficiencies seen in the work carried out in this area, and in terms of creating resources for future studies.
